MG Canteen

The MG Canteen unashamedly celebrates British cuisine to café-style classics including delicious vegetarian dishes on an ever-changing menu. Located in what was once the original Wildehurst wine cellar, both hotel residents and outside guests are most welcome at the MG Canteen.

While the menu here evolves with the seasons, expect a more’ish à la carte menu that taps into the owner’s extensive travels abroad, informing a culinary adventure that is uncomplicated yet considered, with an honest focus on fresh, seasonal produce.

Retaining the sense of upscale refinement, fireside cooking on an outdoor grill will be a signature element of the menu, with dishes created around a spirit of generosity, sharing and celebration.

Sustainability comes top of mind at MG Canteen. Fresh eggs come from the hotel’s own flock of chickens and butter from the village while the on-site vegetable garden will supply much of what the kitchen requires.

Complementing the sense of place that is a thread binding the menu together, the acclaimed wines of Wildehurst are available exclusively through the MG Canteen and the adjoining residents-only Ivy.

Proudly displayed in the MG Canteen is a striking 4x4m art piece titled “Earthscape” by Andre van Vuuren.
